Bon bini Bonaire! Welcome to Bonaire!

Like many others we had a dream about starting a new life on a tropical island. For us this dream came through in February 2010 when we moved to the small island of Bonaire to build a small but intimate guesthouse

Casa-Calexico, where guests will have “a home away from home” feeling.

We have been living in here on Bonaire since February 2010 and Casa-Calexico has become a great success.

But let me first introduce ourselves: my husband (Joop) and me ( Audrey) fell in love more than 20 years ago. Joop supported me while I finished my study of Language and Literature science at the university of Tilburg. At that time he was working in construction but in 2002 he decided to become a firefighter.

He worked at the fire department of the city of Tilburg with great pleasure until we came to Bonaire. The last 10 years I worked with my mother and my sister in a wholesale company in cleaning items in Belgium. Nowadays my mother and my sister started their own company.

In 2000 we decided to get married in Borneo. On the 1st of September we got married in Kuching (Sarawak) and we got infected with the travel bug! The last 10 years we travelled a lot to Asia, Africa, the Pacific and the Caribbean. During our travels we started fantasizing about starting our own little hotel, resort, b&b or guesthouse.

It turns out we fell in love with a beautiful wooden house on the small but very friendly island of Bonaire.

We were thinking about Mexico or Costa-Rica, but also about Thailand or the Philippines. It turns out we fell in love with a beautiful wooden house on the small but very friendly island of Bonaire. In 2004 we went on a (diving)vacation to Bonaire and it was love at first sight but we never returned to Bonaire because we wanted to see as much as possible of the world.

Stayed here a couple of days and could not be more happy. Beautiful and clean room, a perfect garden with beds and a pool. Recommend this to everybody. Jan and elke are very helpful and give you service with a smile!

Very helpful owners, close to the city with a lot of restaurants, supermarket nearby, clean and comfy bungalows with all you need. You need a rental car to explore the island and I recommend to book this in advance.

When on Bonaire, we always stay in Casa Calexico. Lovingly designed small facility with a nice small swimming pool. Perfect place to relax, chill and feel good. Very friendly and warm welcome. We will definitely come back when on Bonaire

In 2015 a friend came with a great opportunity to renovate an old Antilean fishermen’s house and built 3 extra apartments. So in 2016 we opened the doors of a this new amazing oceanfront guesthouse Kas Hamaka. We hope to share this gorgeous place with visitors form all over the world and are looking forward to welcome you!
